The Connecticut Junior Republic’s mission is to provide care, treatment, education and family support for at-risk, special needs and troubled young people so they can become productive and fulfilled members of their communities. In 2018, CJR will help more than 2,500 children, youth and families in 13 locations throughout Connecticut.
The Litchfield Aid is a membership organization that has been raising funds for CJR since 1911. We are a not for profit 501(c) 3, and the money we raise can only be distributed to CJR. In addition to funds raised from events, we annually disperse earnings from our endowment which is approximately $1.5M.
Over the years, the Aid has contributed more than $2.5 million to the Junior Republic through various fundraising activities – the Annual Open House Day Tour being one of our most well known events. The funds we have raised have helped to build the library, the gym, the vocational school, and have financially supported many of the academic, vocational and well-being programs in place there. This could not have been accomplished without the support, creativity, and hard work of our volunteers.
If you are someone who wants to get involved with and be part of a community that is committed to helping these kids, then we hope you will consider joining the Litchfield Aid of the Connecticut Junior Republic. You will make lifetime friends and have fun!
